Comprehensive steps for underground tank lining: From vapor purging, desludging, and abrasive blasting, to inspection, repairs, and advanced lining techniques. Adherence to API & NLPA standards.
After excavating the tank and removing the liquid product, our field crews diligently repair the underground tank. They follow a series of procedures to ensure a thorough restoration process.
First, our team assesses the tank’s condition, identifying any damage or deterioration. We then utilize advanced techniques and high-quality materials to repair and reinforce the structure. This includes sealing cracks, reinforcing weak points, and applying protective coatings as needed. Our meticulous attention to detail guarantees a durable repair, extending the tank’s life and minimizing future issues.

Using large amounts of compressed air, fed through an eductor purging system, the environment inside the tank is brought to safe levels, allowing crew entry.

If a tank does not have a factory installed manway, the AmTech technicians will cut open the storage tank for interior access.

The tank is cleaned of all sludge and liquids. DOT approved barrels are used to store the removed waste materials

The tank then receives an abrasive blast to prepare the surface and create a 4 to 4.5 mil profile.

The interior tank shell is then tested for weak or permeated areas using methods from such national standards as API 1631 and NLPA 631.

Any weak or permeated areas detected during inspection of the tank which fall within allowable repair criteria for the tank are repaired in accordance with the accepted industry practices.

The entire tank interior is then spray coated with one of our Poly Lining Systems to defer future corrosion and reduce sludge build-up.

Testing is conducted on the new interior tank lining using methods to insure uniform thickness, material hardness and absolute coverage.

Once the tank interior work is completed, the access opening to the tank is sealed with overlapping plates or a manway with bolted removable cover is bolted and welded in place.
